Fandi Ahmad, Singapore’s most well-known foot-baller, first sports millionaire, and controversially the best player to put on the national jersey, was the assistant to Singapore national coach Radojko Avramovic from
2004 to Dec 2006.

He was unhappy with the way FAS (Football Association of Singapore) had done to him. He told Today “The truth is I was ready to continue (the contract) then.” But FAS never show their sincerity; after three months they only gave him excuse like “they could not contact me earlier.” So Fandi had to move on.

Now, he has signed a three-year contract with Johor FA, his new role as technical advisor of second-rank Malaysian Premier League. He joined because the growth of young, inexperienced player makes him feel a great sense of achievement; also it is a challenge to him to keep those young hearts in the fight.

He is facing many difficulties recently:
his wife, model Wendy Jacobs was
ill, it gave heavier burden to him, and
things became worse when her condi-
tion is not covered by insurance; there
is also the issue of housing since he
didn't have enough in his CPF savings.

Even though he has no business with
FAS directly now, and people always
evaluates him more across the Cause-
way than his own country, as a
Singaporean, he still hold the hope of
being given chance to take charge of
a national team. Moreover, he belie-
ves that there are still some talented
people in FAS to help out now.
